The Wallabies are set to return to Mendoza to take on the Pumas this season, with the Argentinian Rugby Union confirming the fixture on Thursday.

Australia has played Argentina twice in Mendoza since the Pumas joined the Rugby Championship, suffering their most recent loss to their South American rivals there in 2014, before a resounding win in 2015.

Last year, the two teams played out their Argentina 'home' match in London, in front of 48,515 people.

UAR president Carlos Araujo said they would be coming back to Mendoza after the England experiment.

"The UAR is happy to return to Mendoza," he said, according to a translation.

"We, the players ... last year this game was played in England and we received criticism, but the government of Mendoza at that moment could not make compromises and now after talking, we have agreed to return to this city."

The Wallabies had already announced their home fixture with the Pumas would be played in Canberra.
