Wallabies coach Michael Cheika and his Australian cricket counterpart Darren Lehmann have talked shop and traded ideas over a South African steak in a historic catch-up for the touring sides.
Cheika, Lehmann and their respective coaching and support staffs met for dinner on Wednesday night at Johannesburg's sprawling Montecasino complex, where the Wallabies are staying ahead of Saturday's Test against the Springboks.
Australia's cricket team is also in the country ahead of a five-match one-day series against South Africa, which begins on Friday.
It is the first time the two teams have ever crossed paths while abroad.
"It was great fun. We were in heaven, talking about bowling and selections, they were talking about rugby," Cheika said.
"It's a big weekend of Aussie-South African sport.
"They were really good lads. Some of their thinking's very similar, the challenges in and around keeping the balance right about old school and cutting edge.
"They've got a different scenario because they play so many games together, they've got a different outlook on how some things are, but some of the ideas and preparations are very similar.
"You can't go wrong when you mix ideas like that."
Steve Smith and his troops will be in the stands at Loftus Versfeld for the Rugby Championship clash while the Wallabies also intend to take in a one-dayer before they depart on Sunday for London, where they will take on Argentina next weekend.
