The Hurricanes will host the Super Rugby grand final for the second year in a row, next Saturday as the season comes to a close.

A win over the Chiefs on Saturday handed the Wellington side the chance to play another home decider, kicking off at 5:35pm AEST.

After some debate around the new competition format, the final will see the two best-performed teams fight it out, after the Hurricanes and Lions topped the overall Super Rugby log.

The Lions booked their final spot with a dominant win over the defending champion Highlanders, led by flyhalf Elton Jantjies and will have to travel for their first grand final berth.

Neither side has won a Super Rugby championship, with the Hurricanes having played in two grand finals before this one (2006, 2015).
