Wallabies legend Nathan Sharpe has been appointed to the QRU board.
The former Queensland and Western Force player replaces James Horwill who left the Reds last season, as the player-appointed director on the board.
Sharpe, based in Queensland now, was on the RUPA board during his career, with stints as a delegate from 2004-2008 and 2010-2012.
Player-appointed directors can be current or former players, who have been retired for fewer than five years, a category in which Sharpe fits having called time on his career in 2012.
QRU chairman Damien Frawley said Sharpe would be a welcome inclusion on the board.
“Nathan will be an excellent addition to this Board given his significant Rugby experience. He’s stayed close to the game since he retired from playing and understands all Rugby’s issues and opportunities,” he said.
Sharpe played 70 games for the Reds as well as 92 Western Force matches, making him the most-capped Super Rugby player of all time, also adding 116 Test caps to his name.
