The Waratahs’ heavy derby toll could get worse, with hooker Tolu Latu cited in the match against the Brumbies.

Latu was cited for punching/striking Brumbies inside centre Matt Toomua in the 57th minute.

The contact came as part of a wider scuffle in the game but at the time referee Marius van der Westhuizen and the TMO could not see any obvious foul play on the big screen.

While he wasn’t carded during the match, the citing commissioner deemed the offence met the red card standard in the hours following

Any possible suspension would be a major blow for the Waratahs, who are already looking at a lengthy absence for starting hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau.

Polota-Nau looked to have broken his wrist against the Brumbies, coach Daryl Gibson confirmed after the match.
