The potential match-up between the Qantas Wallabies’ David Pocock and Wales’ Sam Warburton during this year’s highly anticipated British & Irish Lions Tour of Australia has been voted the most mouth-watering by fans.

Provided with a variety of highly anticipated Qantas Wallabies v Lions match-ups including Kurtley Beale v England’s kicking genius Jonny Wilkinson, Adam Ashley Cooper v Ireland’s veteran stalwart Brian O’Driscoll, Digby Ioane v England’s speedy try-scorer Chris Ashton and Qantas Wallabies’ Coach, Robbie Deans v British & Irish Lions Coach, Warren Gatland, fans selected the Pocock v Warburton matchup as the one they’re most looking forward to.

With 38% of the votes, the face-off between the two powerhouse flankers was the runaway favourite.

Last year rugby.com.au compared Michael Hooper, Pocock and Warburton’s facts and figures taking a close look at the commanding Rugby talents should they come head to head during the Lions Tour. Check out the analysis here.

The poll result comes at a fitting time following Wales’ recent announcement of their squad for his year’s Six Nations, which kicks off in less than two weeks’ time.

After Captaining the Welsh side during last year’s November internationals, Cardiff star Warburton has been named to retain the leadership reigns, and with David Pocock a potential leader of the Qantas Wallabies this year’s impending showdown between the two is expected to be powerfully stimulating.

Coming in at second in the poll was the Ashley-Cooper v O’Driscoll face-off with 20% of the votes, closely followed by the match-up between the two coaches on 18%, Ioane v Ashton received 14 % whilst Beale against Wilkinson captured 10% of the fan votes.

Such prospective arm wrestles between Australia and the British & Irish Lions this June will provide supporters with a highly exciting spectacle of Rugby at its greatest on a Tour that’s been 12 Years in The Making.

The arrival of the British & Irish Lions on Australian soil is imminent with tickets officially on sale in a month’s time on February 18. Visit the official Lions Tour website for all the latest news and information of tickets, corporate hospitality and more.
