Round two of the JGC has concluded with wet weather affecting matches across the country. For the two ACT teams, solid performances saw the sides defeat the Hunter region with the Under 15s scoring over 50 and in the Under 17s ACT were victorious 31-7.

In Pool A Sydney North Harbour and Sydney West took on Western NSW as the boys from the bush took on the city in a great tradition of country Rugby.

Sydney West defeated Western NSW at TG Milner field 20-12 in the Under 15s and 36-0 in the Under 15s.

On hand to see the matches was ARU General Manager Pathways and Performance, Ben Whitaker who was impressed with the high standard of Rugby.

“The standards from the JGC teams I saw this weekend was excellent and shows the hard work all teams have put in preparing for the competition phase of the JGC.

“TG Millner was in great condition and there was a healthy crowd on hand to provide well deserved support to all teams.

“The regional/city encounters involving Sydney West, Western NSW, Northern Inland and Sydney North West were all competitive quality fixtures providing the levels of exposure and experience that are critical to team and player development.

“Not to mention the visible enjoyment gained from touring and playing at this level.

“I am sure the coaches will be able to take a lot from the teams’ performances across both age groups and continue to perform well over the remaining weeks of the competition.”

In the Under 17s the ACT are leading Pool B on ten points and in Pool A Sydney North Harbour lead on nine points.
