The Brumbies will again be without main man Matt Toomua, who will miss another week with an ankle injury.

The Wallabies playmaker injured his ankle three weeks ago against the Lions in Johannesburg and is pencilled in to return next week against the Crusaders.

“The ankle is going alright, it’s progressing,” Toomua said. “The plan is to be back fully fit next week, get a run next week against the Crusaders and hopefully if all things go well, we’ll have a few games in the finals to be ready for.”

The Brumbies finals chances hang in the balance ahead of the Force clash, with a defeat all but quashing any hopes of top spot in the Australian Conference.

“It’s that time of the season that you can talk about, it’s not really relevant early on but we’re tied at the moment with the Tahs so bonus points come in to play a fair bit now.”

“We have got a few (bonus points) this year so hopefully we can get a few in the last two rounds.”

It could be an all-Aussie knockout semi in the first week of the finals with a possible Waratahs/Brumbies match-up on the cards.

“Obviously we played them last year but in the second week of the finals though, but there are endlessly possibilities at the moment.”

“Both of us can finish second, sixth or seventh but you do need to win at least one of these two games, if not both, as well as get a couple of bonus points to ensure you’re around that second week of the finals.”

The Brumbies have won seven of their last eight against the Force.
