Momentum no issue for Force

Force lock Steve Mafi says his side will have no issue backing up from the bye in Saturday night’s clash with the Highlanders.

The Western Force broke a ten match losing streak in their win over the Waratahs two weeks ago, before enjoying the week off last weekend.

“I think it’s a good thing,” Mafi said. “It gave us a week to reflect on what we did against the Waratahs and see what we did really well compared to other games.”

“Most of it is just about attitude, if the boys can bring the same game as we did against the Waratahs then we can hopefully have a smile after the (Highlanders) game as well.”

The Tongan star has been a standout for the Force since his arrival from English giants Leicester Tigers in the off-season, with Michael Foley giving him license to run free.

“I have spoken to Foles (Foley) a few times but the main thing is I just want to be out there playing rugby.

I love a bit of open play but at the same time I do like being a bit tighter as well.”

A win for the Force could lift them off the bottom of the table.
