Israel Folau is creeping ever closer to a decision on his playing future, hailing the impact of Michael Cheika on his career.

The star fullback is believed to be negotiating a flexible contract with the Australian Rugby Union as well as playing in Japan.

“There are options that I could go overseas so in time we will wait and see what happens,” Folau said.

“My management are looking after that and they are doing a good job so when I’m ready and it’s done.”

What can’t be denied is the influence of Cheika on his game, at both the Waratahs and Wallabies level.

“He’s been great, he obviously been a big influence on the way my rugby has panned out since joining the club, so he’s been great for me.”

Folau and the Tahs set for a grand final re-match this weekend. Richie McCaw to start for the Crusaders for the first time in a month.

“As a professional rugby player you want to play against the best,” Will Skelton said. “Richie (McCaw) has been the pinnacle for the last while so I’m looking forward to the battle.

Skelton has come on leaps and bounds in 2015, shocking critics as he’s emerged as a true 80-minute player.

“I think it’s just my progression. I played a lot on the bench last year and moving forward I really want to establish myself in the starting team.

“It’s gets to the 75th minute and you’re on your own line and instead of looking to the bench and seeing the fresh guys looking to warm-up, you’re aiming up and talking to the players around you and trying to push through that mental block.”
