New Zealand-born Fotuaika moved to Australia for his schooling where he emerged playing rugby at St Francis College, going on to represent Australia Schoolboys. After playing for both Brisbane City and Queensland Country in the National Rugby Championship, he built a solid reputation the Queensland Reds couldn’t ignore and joined them in 2019, scoring on debut against the Highlanders. After a stellar 2022 season for the Reds, he was called into the Tonga squad for the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup and the World Cup warm up matches. In 2023, Fotuaika made the move over to France playing for Lyon, where he remained until the Brumbies offered an opportunity to return to home soil for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific campaign. He switched to the Force in October 2025 after being part of the First Nations-Pasifika squad against the British & Irish Lions.
