It’s set to be a massive day of rugby and entertainment when the Western Sydney Rams take to Concord for their first ever home match of the 2016 Buildcorp NRC season.

It will be a huge celebration of rugby from the west combined with the fast-paced action of girls 7s, showcasing rugby as a game for all shapes and sizes.

The team are inviting all families to the event to enjoy a picnic whilst witnessing the variety of rugby on display with all the action of the Sydney junior rugby girls 7s tournament and the big NRC clash between the Western Sydney Rams and the boys from the west, the Perth Spirit.

The Rams have announced a huge line-up of talent in their 23 for round three this week, boosted by the likes of their latest signing, Fijian 7s Olympics gold medallist, Vatemo Ravouvou, who will return to the 15-man game for his NRC debut. See the full team here. The squad also includes NSW Waratahs, Will Skelton and Senio Toleafoa, as the team’s vice-captain.

The day kicks off from 8:30am with a special game day experience with Rams’ Coach, John Muggleton. See the details and timings below.

Sydney Junior Rugby Union girls 7s competition - Daryl Gibson’s girls part of huge contingent to experience first taste of competitive 7s rugby

Head to Concord before the the Rams’ Buildcorp NRC round two match to see the next generation of Olympic girls 7s superstars in action in the Sydney Junior Rugby Union girls 7s competition.

Around 300 girls across 28 teams from Under 14s, 16s and 18s will take part in the day, with 19 matches in total. The numbers are a big reflection of the popularity of the NSW 7s Discovery Days, which are currently taking place across the state to find the next generation of 7s stars. Register your interest or find more information about the Discovery Days at www.nswrugby.com.au/7s.

The success of the Australian Women’s Sevens at the recent Rio Olympics Games has clearly inspired many a youngster who has the dream of representing their country in rugby.

None more so than NSW Waratahs Head Coach, Daryl Gibson’s Under 10s and 12s girls 7s teams who, after training for several months, were keen to find some competition for an actual match.

Four weeks ago a call out was made to find teams for the girls to compete against. The result was a huge success with several teams registering their interest to be part of the action through the NSW rugby 7s Discovery Days.

As a result, Daryl’s five girls teams will go head to head as part of the Sydney Junior Rugby girls 7s day this Saturday at Concord.

For many of the girls it will be the first time they have ever participated in a rugby competition, for others it is a huge opportunity for them to hone their skills in a competitive format. The competition Grand Finals will take place following the Rams’ NRC match – see timings below.
