Queensland will look to continue its dominance in the Novotel Australian Schools Rugby Championships when they compete for a seventh-straight title this Saturday.
Queensland I will meet New South Wales I in the Novotel Australian Schools Rugby Championship final tomorrow, after topping their pools in Division I of the tournament.
The Division I final will be played at St. Ignatius’ College, Riverview at 1pm on Saturday, 7 July.
In other Division I finals, Victoria will take on Combined States, Australian Capital Territory face Western Australia and New South Wales II will meet Queensland II.
Prior to the Novotel Australian Schools Rugby Championship final, the Presidents XV will take on Tongan Schools at 11:30am.
Yesterday South Australia wrapped up the Division II title after securing a narrow 19-17 win over the National Indigenous side.
The South Australian’s emerged victorious thanks to the boot of Chris Hodgson who slotted two of three conversion attempts, one more than his National Indigenous counterpart Steven Tracey who kicked just one from three attempts.
The additional conversion was all that was required to hand South Australia the title, breaking the stranglehold of the National Indigenous side who had claimed the Division II Championship for the past two years.
With all Division II games now completed Saturday will see the teams go head-to-head in a knock out Sevens competition with South Australia facing Northern Territory and National Indigenous playing Tasmania at 9am.
Fans are encouraged to come along and watch the future stars of Australian Rugby in action.
Entry to the ground is free and gates will open at 7:30am.
