Hooper steps down as Waratahs skipper, Simmons takes over

After a six-year stint as Waratahs captain, Michael Hooper announced on Wednesday that he's stepping down from the role. Hooper says he's been mulling over the decision for a good 18-months but still wants to maintain his Wallabies duties. Lock, Rob Simmons will take over as captain, with Kurtley Beale named as vice-captain.

The Waratahs play their second trial of 2020 against the Reds in Dalby on Friday January 24, LIVE on RUGBY.com.au, nsw.rugby and reds.rugby.
