Argentinian scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli is one of the most exciting additions to the Brumbies’ squad for 2016 and 2017. Cubelli is approaching a half-century of Test appearances for Argentina, including some starring performances for Los Pumas in The Rugby Championship and Rugby World Cup 2015. A former Argentinian U19 and U20 representative, Cubelli has spent the last six years of playing professionally in Argentina, first with Belgrano and then with Pampas XV. Cubelli made seven appearances during the Rugby World Cup for Argentina, the most recent being the third-place playoff against South Africa, in which he started at scrumhalf. Brumbies fans will be hoping the Argentine can continue the fine tradition of halfbacks, following on from Wallabies great George Gregan and most recently, Nic White. Cubelli’s father, Alejandro, also represented Argentina in 17 Tests while his older brother Francisco is also a well-known player.
