Born in Auckland, Sef Fa’agase moved to Beaudesert, an hour south of Brisbane, in 1994 with his family, where he first discovered his love of rugby with the Beaudesert Warriors Junior Rugby club. But it wasn’t until 2011 that he started on the path to the Reds, following an invitation from former coach Phil Mooney to join Wests for pre-season training in their premier grade program. By 2012, Fa’agase joined the Australian Rugby Union National Academy and would later play for Reds A in the 2013 and 2014 Pacific Nations Cup tournaments. Fa’agase signed with the Reds for two years following promising showings in the 2014 NRC and the 2015 Super Rugby season.
