Biography

Samantha Treherne is the first Women’s player to go through every step of the Women’s Pathway; The Women’s National XVs Championship (now defunct), National Sevens Championship, Aon University Sevens Series and Buildcorp Super Won her way to playing for the Buildcorp Wallaroos and Qantas Australian Women’s Sevens.

Born and raised in Victoria, Samantha Treherne seemed destined to be surrounded by Rugby with her family heavily involved in the local Footscray Rugby club. Treherne proved she had the talent and grit to match her family's love for Rugby, representing her state in both XVs and Sevens and even captaining Victoria at only 21.

In 2017 Treherne made the move to Queensland, where she linked up with Sunnybank Rugby and it was from there that she was propelled into the national realm.

Making her sevens debut on the Colorado leg of 2018-19 World Series, Treherne went on to score 100 points in her rookie season.

Treherne is hopeful to continue the momentum as she rips into this HSBC Sevens World Series and hopes to make her Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020.
