McGregor first took to rugby Sevens in the inaugural year of the Aon University 7s series where she represented Macquarie University. Several standout performances caught the eyes of Australian 7s coaches and McGregor was subsequently picked up in the Qantas Australian Women’s Squad having proved herself on the domestic scene.
McGregor’s speed and creativity were influential in the team's second place finish in Fiji and saw her later feature in the team's first Seven’s Series leg in Dubai, where Australia comfortably beat the USA in the Cup Final 34-0. In a whirlwind year, McGregor not only earned herself 3 SWS caps and a professional contract with the Australian Sevens at the conclusion of the World Series in 2018.
