Lausii Taliauli is a big, fleet footed outside back who returned to 15-a-side rugby for the first time since leaving the Southport School back in 2010. Taliauli’s arrival to the Brumbies marked his third full-time contract in three different sports. His career started with a two-year stint at the Gold Coast Titans in 2011 before moving into the Australian Sevens program in 2013. After coming from the bench in a number of games, Stephen Larkham showed how much faith he has in Taliauli, naming him to start in the absence of the suspended Henry Speight for the Brumbies' Semi-Final showdown with the Hurricanes in Wellington. After re-signing with the club during the off season, Taliauli’s primary focus will be to stay fit through the opening rounds of competition. He is a player who has been plagued with soft tissue injuries over the last four years, but coaches are confident he can stay in one piece to have a huge impact on the Brumbies' style of play in 2016. Canberra's rugby fans have already been treated to some of Taliauli’s ability with the athletic outside back shining in his brief appearances for the Vikings during the National Rugby Championship throughout 2014 and 2015. This elusive try-scorer is sure to be seen in a Brumbies jersey on many occasions in 2016.
