Kristie Matthews is a recent convert to Rugby Union having only taken up the game at fifteen-a-side level in 2018 where she proved to be a powerful presence for the Canberra Royals club in the backline before she switched to flanker. Her sporting background prior to that was in Powerlifting where she has been competing on and off for eight years and represented Australia in 2015. Before Powerlifting her main sport was Netball where she played Centre. Matthews is married to Joe and is the proud mother of three boys, Kaleb (8), Kai (5) and Jack (1).
