Jacky Lyden started playing a couple of games with her local club Orange Emus back in 2017 and, after literally two games, decided she loved the culture and environment of the club. In mid-2018 Lyden continued to play a couple more games for Emus but netball at the time took precedent. It wasn’t until the end of 2018 that rugby became a bigger passion after playing Tens in the Red Dog challenge held in Bathurst and then playing in the Wagga Sevens hosted by Brumbies for CSU Bathurst, only to fall short in the Grand Finals in extra time.
Prior to this Lyden had been playing four different sports consistently in over an eighteen-month period from Netball, League Tag, Rugby League and Rugby Union. Primarily Lyden played netball for over 20 years, League Tag for four years and League for a season. Her primary focus in 2019 is to challenge herself in a new environment and to continue push herself in every aspect of the game, so she can pass all my experiences and knowledge to our next generation at the club and in her job as a Physical Education Teacher at Orange High School.
