Emily Sogal started playing rugby in 2010 with Tuggeranong Viqueens on the wing but soon switched to the forwards, converting to lock. She was part of the Grand Final winning team in 2010, the Viqueens downing the Uni-Norths Owls in the big game and followed that up with selection for the Brumbies Women in 2011. An unfortunate injury, Sogal tore her ACL and MCL, curtailed her participation in the National Championships and, after surgery, she stepped back from the game for three years.
Sogal made her comeback in 2015 and was part of the Brumbies side that came second in that year’s National Championships. A further ACL injury in 2016 wasn’t part of the plan, but she was since come back fighting fit gaining confidence as part of a successful Viqueens team which won the 2018 Grand Final culminating in Sogal making the Super W cut.
