Albert Anae

Albert Anae is hoping to re-ignite his Super Rugby career with the Brumbies in 2016. Equally adept at both hooker and prop, Anae joins the Brumbies on a one-year deal with an option for a second, after spending last season at Italian powerhouse Treviso. Born in Wellington and with Samoan heritage, Anae and his family moved to Brisbane when he was young. Prior to moving to Italy, Anae represented the Reds, making his Super Rugby debut against the Hurricanes in Wellington during 2011 and went on to make 27 appearances for the Queensland side over four seasons. He was also a member of the 2011 Super Rugby winning Reds squad. In 2013 Anae played in New Zealand’s ITM Cup with Bay of Plenty before being called into the Wallabies squad following an injury to Tatafu Polota-Nau. After moving to Canberra midway through 2015 with his young family, Anae represented the Vikings in the 2015 National Rugby Championships, scoring one try among eight games which included the Grand Final.
