The Australian Women's Sevens' remarkable season has been capped off after being named AIS Team of the Year.
Tim Walsh's side held off the Australian Women’s Cricket Team, Australian Steelers Wheelchair Rugby Team and Hockeyroos to take the honour.

It comes after their historic 'Triple Crown' season, winning the HSBC World Series, Commonwealth Games and Rugby Sevens World Cup.
“We’ve had an incredible year with the Triple Crown - The Commonwealth Games, World Series and World Cup,” Dom Du Toit said after accepting the award.
“Coming off the back of a not so successful season last year, we’re really proud of this year. We made a goal to be really consistent and we’re certainly dod that so
“It’s a huge honour to win this award.”
It comes after the team claimed a host of individual awards, headlined by Charlotte Caslick being named World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year.
Caslick was joined by Maddison Levi, who won Rookie of the Year, Faith Nathan and Madison Ashby in the World Rugby Dream Team.
“We had a really amazing night tonight, and it was great to be recognised as the best team in Australia right now,” Levi said.
“It just shows the growth of our team and the direction we are heading.”
Levi missed out on Emerging Athlete of the Year, awarded to rising netball star Donnell Wallam whilst Caslick was pipped for Female Athlete of the Year by marathon gold medalist Jessica Stenson.
Tim Walsh was also nominated for Coach of the Year, with the honour going to moguls coaches Kate Blamey and Peter McNiel after Jakara Anthony's gold medal
