The Queensland Reds face a nervous trip to the Judiciary after superstar duo Tate McDermott and Fraser McReight were cited after their defeat to Moana Pasifika.

Both were sent off in the second half, with McDermott charged after collecting Irie Papuni with a swinging arm in the 45th minute.

McReight followed him to the sidelines after hitting flyhalf William Havili high in the final ten minutes of the three-point loss.

"McDermott is alleged to have contravened Law 9.13 - A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously, during the match between Moana Pasifika and Queensland Reds at Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei on 12 April 2024," the statement read.

"McReight is (also) alleged to have contravened Law 9.13 - A player must not tackle an opponent early, late or dangerously, during the match between Moana Pasifika and Queensland Reds at Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei on 12 April 2024.

"The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee which will take place on Monday 15 April 2024, 5pm(AEST), 7pm(NZST) via video-conference."

The Reds return home for a pair of Kiwi clashes against the Highlanders and Blues, sitting sixth on the ladder.

"We had a lot of pressure-relieving moments for them, which sort of wiped out some good moments that we had," Reds co-captain Liam Wright said after the defeat.

"Errors cost us but at the same time we put ourselves right back in the fight.

"Two red cards is never good, but the boys really fought with 14 men, we found a game-style that suited the game.

"We had our moment there towards the end but unfortunately couldn't quite do it."
