All Blacks captain Scott Barrett will miss Saturday's opening Bledisloe Cup Test against the Wallabies in Auckland as coach Scott Robertson calls on a host of stars for the clash.

Barrett has been ruled out with a shoulder injury following the Kiwis' record-breaking loss to South Africa a fortnight ago, with the lock set to be fit for next week's Test in Perth.

Flanker Ardie Savea takes over the responsibility, with his absence offset by a host of returning stars.

Winger Caleb Clarke, hooker Codie Taylor, lock Patrick Tuipulotu and scrumhalves Cam Roigard and Cortez Ratima have all been cleared of injuries.

Clarke is a straight swap for Emoni Narawa, who was ruled out for the rest of the Rugby Championship due to injury, with Will Jordan shifting to fullback.

The move sees Damian McKenzie return to the bench and Leroy Carter shift to the other wing.

Meanwhile, Roigard will start in the halves with Ratima set to finish alongside Tuipulotu.

In further changes, Peter Lakai will feature for the first time in 2025 in the black jersey, named on the reserves.

"With all teams being two from four in this Rugby Championship, we all have everything to play for in these final two rounds," coach Scott Robertson said.

"We are preparing for a strong Australian side and understand the importance of this match and the Bledisloe Cup. There is a lot to play for on Saturday evening.”

It marks the 180th Test between the two sides, with the All Blacks out to extend their hold over the Bledisloe Cup for a 24th year.
