Rebels loosehead prop Cameron Orr has inked a new deal that will see him stay in the navy blue of the Melbourne Rebels for at least 2 more years.

Since arriving at the Stockade at the end of 2019, Orr has quickly established himself as a regular feature in the match day squad, with his appetite for hard work quickly endearing him to fans and team mates alike.

“I’d been on quite the rugby journey before arriving in Melbourne,” admitted Orr.

“Playing interstate and overseas has certainly given me some great experiences, but the environment in Melbourne is something quite incredible.

“Dave and the coaches gave me my first start in Super Rugby and the confidence to know that I can compete at this level.”

Since debuting in Round One of Super Rugby this year, Rebel #149 has quickly cemented his spot in the Rebels team.

“When it came time to settle my future, the camaraderie of the group which has been on display this entire tour was something I factored into my decision.

“To feel this comfortable with these blokes after being on the road together for nine weeks highlights how special this Club is and the people that work here.”

“Everything is in place here for the Club to be successful – the staff, coaches, and playing group.

Orr has featured in all six Super Rugby AU matches this campaign, starting in four and earning plaudits from Rebels forwards coach Geoff Parling.

“It’s great news that following on from Pone Fa’amausili’s signing, Cam sees his future here at the Rebels,” stated Parling.

“He has an excellent attitude with a will to learn and improve that is evident in his training and playing performances.

“There are several young forwards that we hope will drive our standards and Cam is integral in that group.

It’s now up to him to continue to show that hunger and drive that we’ve seen this season, and grasp every opportunity put in front of him.”

The re-signing comes in the same week that Orr will take to Leichhardt Oval to face the Waratahs in Round 9 of the Vodafone Super Rugby AU - a venue just around the corner from his childhood home.

The Rebels take on the Waratahs at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday August 29, kicking off at 7:15pm AEST, LIVE on Foxtel, Foxtel Now and Kayo Sports. Buy tickets here. Buy a Kayo subscription here.
