Ryan Crotty and Scott Barrett have been ruled out of the Super Rugby final and likely much of the Rugby Championship with hand injuries.

The Canterbury club confirmed the news on their website on Tuesday morning, with both players suffering breaks.

Crotty missed the last half hour of the match after breaking his thumb and underwent surgery on Sunday to fix the injury.

The All Blacks centre is set to miss up to eight weeks, a timeframe that could rule him out of the entire Rugby Championship but put him on track to play in the World Cup final.

Barrett fractured his index finger and is set to miss five-six weeks, potentially making him available for the Bledisloe Cup Tests.

New Zealand will name their Rugby Championship squad at 5pm AEST.
