Billy Meakes has forced his way back into the Rebels starting side after a stunning performance off the bench against the Hurricanes last weekend. Meakes replaces Tom English in the midfield when they host the Reds on Friday night.

Wallabies hopeful Billy Meakes has forced his way back into the Melbourne Rebels starting side to face Queensland in their Super Rugby clash on Friday night.

Meakes has replaced Tom English at inside centre after impressing when he came off the bench in last round's loss to the Hurricanes.

Rebels coach Dave Wessels said he was looking for Meakes's combination with five-eighth Quade Cooper to help end their run of three successive losses.

Jordan Uelese is still not back in the Rebels squad but is expected to play club rugby in Sydney this week ahead of a return the following week.
