The Aussie Sevens have bounced back in Singapore in the best possible fashion, topping their pool and setting up a Cup quarter final showdown against England tomorrow at 2:36pm AEST.

Australia has secured top spot in its Singapore Sevens pool after a 47-0 win over Hong Kong.

The victory completed a perfect day one for Australia, who enjoyed wins over France and Argentina earlier in the competition.

It took Dylan Pietsch just over a minute to score the Aussies' first against Hong Kong, collecting a Josh Coward cutout pass to run into a defensive hole.

Lachie Miller added to the tally just three minutes later and quickfire tries to Maurice Longbottom and Tom Connor stretched their lead to 28 points by the half-time break.

A Joe Pincus double just after half-time made Australia's advantage 40 points with four minutes to go.

Liam McNamara had scored a superb individual try, receiving the ball off the back of the lineout and breaking the Hong Kong defensive line for his score.

Australia beat out France 24-12 in their second match of the day.

It was France who got on the board first with a try through Remi Siega before Maurice Longbottom replied for Australia.

Jeral Skelton added another Australian score before the break before Siega had his second just before the break to narrow the margin.

Two unanswered second half tries, to Lachie Miller and Henry Hutchison, sealed the win for Australia and cemented a two-from-two start for Australia.

In their opener, Australia held out Argentina 22-17 for their first pool win.

The Aussies were on the back foot early as Argentina's Santiago Alvarez Fourcade opened the scoring but Maurice Longbottom soon had a reply.

Longbottom's try was followed by scores to Simon Kennewell and Joe Pincus opening up a big advantage for Australia.

Argentina opened the second half with two quick tries to snatch back the lead in the dying stage.s

It was Longbottom again who provided the settler for the Aussies, scoring a try off a superb step and force yet another lead change.

Kennewell was sinbinned midway through the second half but Australia were able to hold out the South Americans and take a first-up win.

Although the perfect start, Head Coach Tim Walsh said the team needed to move on and and focus on the next task.

“We need to be better when the odds are against us, that is the difference between the top and middle teams.

“Tomorrow is a new day we and we will take many positive aspects out of today and keep momentum going into the match against England.”

Australia take on England in quarter finals tomorrow at 2.36pm (AEST)
