Aussie Sevens duo Jesse Parahi and Tom Connor have re-signed until 2020.

The two have had contrasting journeys to their retention - Parahi is a stalwart of the Sevens program and his experience has been critical for a developing side, while Connor was called up for the Sydney tournament this year, immediately impressing then-coach Andy Friend.

Parahi has battled injuries this season and is touch and go for next week's Rugby World Cup Sevens, but is a chance to be a part of that tournament and current coach Tim Walsh said he would be a critical part of the team's next chapter.

“To retain the commitment of Jesse is a big piece of the puzzle for the next two years. Jesse’s experience and points of difference form the foundations for consistent podium finishers for the ensuing seasons," he said.

“A business and family man off the field, the Parahi’s encompass the ‘family' program culture and deliver the strong characters and maturity it requires.

Walsh said Connor's work rate was his most valuable asset.

“Tom is the man you want in your squad and when the going gets tough you would want Tom by your side.

“A relentless hard worker, professional, always team first and ruthless over the ball. Tom’s hard work, resilience and dedication screams out the cliché 'the secret to success is hard work' and once more he enjoys it,"

The Aussie men leave for San Francisco on Saturday, ahead of the Rugby World Cup Sevens on July 20.
