Leroy Houston is headed back to Bordeaux, after the Reds confirmed he had been released today.

The burly No. 8 featured in just one game for the Reds this season and was granted a release on personal grounds today.

He was lured back to Australia by an optimistic Michael Cheika, who believed he could feature for the Wallabies.

But he has not delivered on that expectation, playing just one Test.

He was expected to head back overseas - where he has had the most success in his 10 year career - and has done so.

He will join Bordeaux, the club that handed him his first opportunity abroad after spending the first four years of his career with the Reds.

He did struggle in his only season at the club in 2011, though, as he was soon on the roster at French Pro2 club Colomiers.

He then joined Bath, where he played 94 games for the famous club.
