The NSW Country Eagles unbeaten start to the NRC season is treading water, literally.
The side was supposed to clash with Perth Spirit at Orange’s Endeavour Oval but the field is unplayable after the region was drenched with torrential downpours over the past week.
The clash will now however be part one of a mouth-watering Buildcorp NRC double header at Concord Oval on Saturday afternoon
The game will be played directly before the Western Sydney Rams and Queensland Country match, maintaining its original 1pm kick-off timeslot.
While NSW Country Eagles head coach Darren Coleman clearly upset about another opportunity to play in a regional town and said the only upside was that his side didn’t have to travel three hours to play in Orange.
“We’re massively disappointed not to be playing there (in Orange),” he said.
“We’d really like to be heading out there, it’s part of our team mantra that we represent country rugby and especially there, where they hosted a game last year and did it really well.”
Despite the obvious regret of not being able to play in front of the Orange faithful, Coleman did give an indication his side might still yet run out onto Endeavour Oval in 2016.
“Our goal is to continue to perform and finish first or second to give us a home final,” Coleman said.
“If we can do that it gives us another opportunity to take a game out to the country areas and we will definitely be considering Orange as an option.”
