Emilee Cherry scored a double on Australia's way to a 28-nil rout of Spain in the Langford Cup Quarters

A double from Emilee Cherry has propelled Australia into a Cup semi-final in Canada, in a 28-0 win over Spain on Monday morning.

Australia controlled the contest from the get go against a competitive Spanish side, with Brooke Walker had Australia’s first try just one minute in.

Emilee Cherry added to her weekend’s tally on the shadows of half-time to give her side a 14-point buffer at the break.

She added her second, and sixth of the weekend, 50 seconds into the second half, continuing her standout tournament.

Cherry’s efforts have put her second on the all-time try scoring list, with 77 tries, behind New Zealand’s Portia Woodman (107).

Amy Turner added another for Australia with two minutes to go, to put the game out of reach of their Spanish opponents.

While it was their veterans who nabbed the points, Australia’s younger brigade continued to show their talents, with debutants Georgie Friedrichs and Demi Hayes playing a part in the win.

Australia will play its Cup semi-final against USA or England at 7:36am AEST, streamed live on world rugby.org.
