Australia’s huge year of Rugby is set to continue following the DHL Australia 2013 Lions Tour with The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship kicking-off on Saturday 17 August.

Tickets to the second instalment of The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship went on sale yesterday and fans are being encouraged to move quickly to secure their seat.

Just six weeks after the Lions leave our shores the Qantas Wallabies will return to action at ANZ Stadium in Sydney when they take on their trans-Tasman rivals, the All Blacks.

Last time the two sides met in Brisbane they shared the honours with an epic 18-all draw a result the Qantas Wallabies will be hoping to better on Saturday 17 August.

The opening Test of the Championship will again double as the first Bledisloe Cup Test of the year and having not held the coveted piece of trans-Tasman silverware for 11 years the Qantas Wallabies will be eager to go one up in the best of three series.

Three weeks later, on Saturday 7 September, the Qantas Wallabies will return to Suncorp Stadium to take on the Springboks.

Since 1997 Suncorp Stadium has played host to the Wallabies and Springboks seven times with the Wallabies emerging victorious on every occasion.

After enjoying a full house in June when they faced the Lions the Qantas Wallabies will be hoping for another capacity crowd full of Gold as they look to extend their success over the Springboks in Brisbane.

The following week the Qantas Wallabies will head West for their final Test on home soil in 2013.

Perth’s Patersons Stadium will welcome the Pumas for the first time on Saturday 14 September for their Test against the Qantas Wallabies.

Last year’s Championship new comers, the Pumas, ran the Qantas Wallabies close when they met on the Gold Coast last year.

In 2013, with a year’s experience under their belt the passionate, exciting and unpredictable Pumas will return to Australia hungry to claim a major scalp in World Rugby.

Australian Rugby Union CEO, Bill Pulver, said he was looking forward to Australia’s huge year of Rugby continuing in August when The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship begins.

“Over the past month Rugby fans have enjoyed the fantastic spectacle of a Lions Tour,” Mr Pulver said.

“The atmosphere, energy and excitement the Tour has generated across Australia has been incredible.

“I am looking forward to continuing that excitement in August and September when we face the best of the Southern hemisphere.

“With tickets now on sale to all three Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship Tests I encourage fans to secure their seats now and help continue the exiting year of Rugby in Australia.”

Tickets to the Qantas Wallabies Tests in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth are on sale now.

Tickets to the Sydney and Brisbane Tests are on sale through ticketek.com.au, while tickets to the Test in Perth can be purchased through ticketmaster.com.au
