The Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development team enjoyed a thoroughly successful fundraising dinner on Wednesday night. The annual event is the premier evening in the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development team calendar.

The Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development team or “Llodies” as they are affectionately known, operate to engage with Indigenous communities through Rugby, educating people not only on the sport but on important health and social messages as well.

Guests were entertained with an evening mixed with music, interviews, live comedy and speeches.

Australian Rugby Union CEO Bill Pulver spoke of the great importance of the Lloyd McDermott program and of the excellent work the team does in engaging Indigenous communities with Rugby.

The evening was capped off with an entertaining interview with Qantas Wallabies Coach, Ewen McKenzie who covered every topic from the Bledisloe Cup, to The NRC and Super Rugby.

Executive Officer Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team Tom Evans said the night was a roaring success.

“We are still at the preliminary stage of gauging how much we raised for the Lloydies Program over the next year but at this stage I am quietly confident that the night was a financial success.

“It really was great to see so much support from the wider community, including our Government partners, members of the legal profession, sponsors and of course the ARU.

“It is great to know there is so much support out there for our program and we are looking forward to another exciting year ahead.”

The dinner will be used to fund programs such as the Ella Sevens, Alice Springs school girl tournament and many other great programs.
