Rugby across Australia. The passion, the strength, the mud, the men, the women, the effort on the faces of the tiny tots, the community. Rarely are all these aspects of the game showcased as one visually-appealing expression of Australian Rugby.
But this year’s Samsung Snapshot Photographic Competition has created just that with hundreds of Rugby aficionados submitting their photo entries. Together the snapshots capture and celebrate the unique and varied perspectives of Rugby across all levels of the game in Australia.
Open to anyone with a camera and a love of, or involvement in Rugby, the competition showcases the images that define the essence of the game, on or off the field.
Those who have entered so far have seized the opportunity to send in their best shots, exposing the guts, the glory and the goals from the suburbs to the stadiums.
The competition is rife with each entrant vying for the once-in-a-lifetime winning prize, a sideline spot as an official photographer at this year’s opening Bledisloe Cup match between the Qantas Wallabies and All Blacks at ANZ Stadium on Saturday 17 August.
All entrants are encouraged to visit the Museum of Sydney where they will see their submitted photos on display as part of the free ‘Magic of Bledisloe’ exhibition, which officially opens on Friday 9 August and runs until Sunday 18 August.
To mark the opening of the display and this year’s Bledisloe Cup Festival, an official launch event will be held on the Museum of Sydney forecourt on the corner of Bridge and Phillip Streets Sydney. More info here.
Current and former Wallaby stars will be there on the day signing for fans. The Bledisloe Cup itself will also make an appearance, with the opportunity to get up close and have a picture taken with world Rugby’s biggest trophy.
The Samsung Snapshot Photographic Competition is still open for entries, closing on Sunday 11 August. From there ten finalists will be selected to be judged by a panel of professional Getty and media photographers.
The winner will receive a Samsung camera and given the exclusive opportunity to join the official photographers on the sideline at the Bledisloe Cup in Sydney. More information about the competition, the prizes and how to enter are here.
