Peter de Villiers has named his side to face Namibia in their Pool D match this Thursday at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.

South Africa and Namibia have met only once before. South Africa won the match 105-13 – the Springboks’ second highest points total and their third biggest win ever – at Newlands in Cape Town in August 2007.

Six Springboks in Thursday’s 22 played in the match at Newlands. They are: Jaque Fourie, Fourie du Preez, Schalk Burger, Bakkies Botha, CJ van der Linde and Ruan Pienaar. Schalk Burger scored three tries at Newlands, while Fourie, Pienaar and Van der Linde also crossed the try line.

This will be South Africa’s 27th test match in RWC tournaments. Of the previous 26, only three were lost for a winning percentage of 88.5%, the best of any participant in this tournament. So far South Africa have scored 102 tries in Rugby World Cup tournaments for a total of 900 points.
