Having sat out just 14 of the 69 Tests played by Australia since the start of 2008, Stephen Moore’s experience will no doubt be a true asset against the pride of the British & Irish Lions in 2013.
Moore’s first appearance on the 2012 Spring Tour will be his 73rd outing for the Wallabies, which will surpass the 72 games played by Jeremy Paul, making 29-year-old Moore Australia’s most capped hooker.
The 33rd Australian to reach 50 Tests during the Qantas Wallabies’ 2010 visit to South Africa, Moore celebrated the achievement with a try as Australia beat the Springboks 41-39 to win on the high veldt in the Republic for the first time in 47 years.
In 2010, Moore became just the fourth Australian hooker to surpass a half century of Test matches when the Qantas Wallabies eclipsed South Africa during an epic contest at Bloemfontein. Going beyond the achievements of Paul will add to the feat of earlier in the year when the Brumbies hooker became the 24th Australian, and the 60th player overall, to play 100 games of Super Rugby.
Of West Irish descent, Moore got to experience playing at the spiritual home of Irish sport himself, when the Wallabies drew 20-20 with Ireland during the 2009 Spring Tour.
