Qantas Wallabies centre Anthony Fainga’a sidelined for 2013

Qantas Wallabies and Queensland Reds centre Anthony Fainga’a has this morning undergone shoulder surgery in Brisbane and is expected to be sidelined for up to six months.
Fainga’a was last week announced in Australia’s extended 40-man Qantas Wallabies training squad although the reconstruction to his right shoulder will see the 26-year-old centre miss the Qantas Wallabies Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship and Spring Tour campaigns for 2013.
The six month rehabilitation process will allow Fainga’a to target a return to the playing field for the beginning of the 2014 Super Rugby season.
At this stage no replacement will be called into the Qantas Wallabies extended training squad, which will assemble for a five-day camp in Sydney on Monday 5 August.
New Qantas Wallabies coach Ewen McKenzie will announce his final squad of up to 30 players at the conclusion of the training camp on Friday 9 August.
