Australian Rugby Union today confirmed Qantas Wallabies winger, Drew Mitchell, will depart Australia at season’s end after he decided not to re-sign with Australian Rugby.
The 63-Test veteran, who will be keen to add to his tally of Test caps in the highly anticipated Lions Tour in June and July and The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship later in the year, will depart Australia following the conclusion of the Australian Test season.
Mitchell made his Super Rugby debut in 2004 for the Queensland Reds against the Highlanders and has since amassed 106 caps between the Reds, the Force and most recently the Waratahs.
A year after bursting onto the Super Rugby scene Mitchell gained Test selection, debuting against the Springboks in Sydney.
Now entering his ninth international season Mitchell has made a name for himself as a prolific try scorer and shares the honour of being Australia’s second highest Rugby World Cup try scorer with 10 tries, equal with David Campese and one behind Chris Latham.
