Australian Rugby Union today released The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship schedule for the Qantas Wallabies 2013 Test season.
The Qantas Wallabies will begin their Championship campaign at ANZ Stadium in Sydney against arch rivals the All Blacks on Saturday 17 August.
A week later the Qantas Wallabies will travel across the Tasman to take on the All Blacks in Wellington before a travel bye the following weekend.
The two All Blacks Tests will also see the Qantas Wallabies looking to win back the coveted Bledisloe Cup for the first time since 2002.
On Saturday 7 September The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship will continue when the Qantas Wallabies take on the Springboks at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Finally, the Qantas Wallabies will wrap up their domestic Test season for 2013 in Western Australia when they tackle the Pumas at Patersons Stadium in Perth on Saturday 14 September.
Following another week’s rest, the Qantas Wallabies will head to South Africa to take on the Springboks in Cape Town before heading to Argentina to wrap up their 2013 Championship campaign against the Pumas.
Acting ARU CEO, Matt Carroll AM, said the second annual Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship would provide further excitement to an already highly anticipated 2013 Test season.
“With the British & Irish Lions here in June and July and then the Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship kicking off in August, fans are certainly in for a feast of International Rugby in 2013,” Mr Carroll said.
“As is the case ever year, the Qantas Wallabies will begin their Championship campaign at ANZ Stadium in Sydney against the All Blacks.
“The opening Test will be the culmination of the week-long Bledisloe Cup Festival, which was a great success last year and will be even bigger in 2013.
“ARU is also pleased to be able to take Test Rugby back to Perth again in 2013 and we look forward to the Western Australian public embracing the exciting Argentina Pumas for the first time.
“The Pumas were impressive in their first year in the Championship, so it will definitely be something to look forward to when they debut in Perth next year.”
Australian Rugby also released details surrounding the third and final Bledisloe Cup Test in 2013, which will be held in New Zealand.
The third and final Bledisloe Cup Test each year rotates between Australia and New Zealand.
In 2012 Suncorp Stadium hosted the thrilling 18-18 draw between the Qantas Wallabies and All Blacks, which saw the New Zealand side claim a 2-0 series win in the best of three Tests to reclaim the Bledisloe Cup for the 10th straight year.
Tickets prices and on-sale dates for The Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship will be announced in the coming months.
