The National U16 Championship is a National residential tournament for Under-16 players for National, State or Territory representative teams, conducted annually by the Australian Rugby Union.
The National U16 Championship is an important element of the Player Pathway at National, Provincial, Regional and Affiliate level with the purpose to provide an effective platform for:
- the identification and development of each state/territories talented young players, coaches, managers, referees and other officials;
- the recruitment and retention of players, coaches, referees, managers and other officials
- the benchmarking of talented U16 players;
- assisting with the improvement of playing standards and development of the game in all participating states/territories.

St Ignatius’ College Riverview is a boys’ day and boarding school with a long and esteemed tradition in Rugby, being a member of the GPS competition. It has outstanding residential and sporting facilities, including many rugby ovals and state-of-the-art aquatic centre and gymnasium.
St Ignatius’ College, Riverview is situated 10km north of the centre of Sydney and has easy access off the Gore Hill Freeway and Pacific Highway at Lane Cove.
