National Women's Championship

The National Women's Championship is a national residential tournament for female players from state/territory and affiliate representative teams, conducted annually by the Australian Rugby Union.

The National Women's Championship is an important element of the Player Pathway at national, provincial, regional and affiliate level with the purpose to provide an effective platform for:

  • the identification and development of each state/territories talented players, coaches, managers, referees and other officials;
  • the recruitment and retention of players, coaches, referees, managers and other officials;
  • the benchmarking of talented Women's players;
  • assisting with the improvement of playing standards and development of the game in all participating states/territories and affiliates.

St Ignatius’ College Riverview is a boys’ day and boarding school with a long and esteemed tradition in Rugby, being a member of the GPS competition. It has hosted the National Women's Rugby Sevens Championship for the last two years. It has outstanding residential and sporting facilities, including many rugby ovals and state-of-the-art aquatic centre and gymnasium. 

St Ignatius’ College, Riverview is situated 10km north of the centre of Sydney and has easy access off the Gore Hill Freeway and Pacific Highway at Lane Cove. Access to the College is via Tambourine Bay Road and the # 1 Oval is directly visible on entry to the College. See College PDF Map or College Google Map.

The Australian Rugby Union will offer invitations annually to State/Territory representative team/s and the Australian Services teams to attend National Women's Championship, including:
