The 2012 National Women's Rugby 7's Championship

Formerly the National Women's Rugby Championship, the National Women’s Rugby 7’s Championship is an important element of the sevens Player Pathway at national, provincial, regional and affiliate level with the purpose to provide an effective platform for:

1.  identification and development of each state/territories talented sevens players, coaches, managers, referees and other officials;
2. the recruitment and retention of players, coaches, referees, managers and other
3. the benchmarking of talented Women’s sevens players;
4. assisting with the improvement of playing standards and development of the game in all  participating unions/states/territories and affiliates;
5. assisting with the selection of the National Women’s 7s Squad.

Venue: St Ignatius College, Riverview, Sydney NSW
When: Saturday April 14 to Sunday April 15
Teams competing: Sydney 1, Sydney 2, NSW Country, Queensland 1, Queensland 2, ACT 1, ACT 2, Victoria, Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Australian Services, Lloyd McDermot Rugby Development Team & Papua New Guinea.

The 2012 National U16 Championship

The 2012 National U16 Championship takes much the same shape as 2011.  It is a residential Championship for Under-16 players for National, State or Territory representataive teams, conducted annually by the Australian Rugby Union. This Championship is an important part of the Player Pathway with a purpose to provide talent indentification and development of young players, coaches, managers, referees and other officials; recruitment and retention; the benchmarking of talented players; and assisting with the improvement of playing standrads and development of the game in all participating States/Territories.

Venue: St Ignatius College, Riverview, Sydney NSW
When: Monday October 1 to Friday October 5
Teams Competing: Sydney Juniors, NSW Schools, NSW Country, Queensland Red, Queensland White, Brumbies, Victoria, Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania & Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team.

The 2012 National Schoolboy 7's Championship

The 2012 National Schoolboy 7's Championship is entering it's second year. A successful Championship last year prompted Australian Rugby Union to host it yet again. This Championship is for open aged Schoolboy players from selected States around the Country. Each State/Territory hosted their own Tounaments to determine the finalists who would then be invited to the National Schoolboy 7's Championship. Last year an invitation was sent to 8 Schools, with the Grand Final between Brisbane State High School and Keebra Park State High School being played on the pitch of Skilled Park, during the 2011 IRB Gold Coast Sevens.
