Tickets to the annual Australian Schools Rugby Fundraising Luncheon are going fast with more than 300 people already confirmed for the highly anticipated event at the Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney on Friday, 12 April.
The Luncheon promises to be one of the best in recent memory with several past players from the Wallabies teams of the 70s 80s and 90s having secured their tables.
Some of the Classic Wallabies attending include Paul McLean, Michael Hawker, Greg Cornelsen, John Eales, Mark Bartholomeusz, Tony Melrose, Sam Scott Young, Ian Williams, Elton Flatley, Sean Hardman and Tom Bowman while former Australian Schools representative Ricky Stuart will also be present.
Support for the luncheon has come from across the Rugby and business community in Sydney. New ARU CEO, Bill Pulver, has agreed to be auctioned –hosting a boardroom luncheon for eight people along with ARU personnel. Lion Nathan will again be the Luncheon’s official beer sponsors. Tables have been booked by several schools and other Rugby Clubs including ARU, RUPA, NSW Rugby, Sydney University, Hunters Hill JRU, The Cauliflower Club, St Augustine’s, and Oakhill Colleges.
Two other highly unique auction items will be available to some enterprising companies. The Jersey Sponsorship for the two key events of the ASRU 2013 Calendar - The inaugural Four Nations Schools Tournament and the tour of the UK and Ireland. The successful bidders will have their company logo placed on the front of the Team’s playing strip for the three domestic Test matches against Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa and/or the Tests against Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland.
The Master of Ceremonies, Sam Kekovich, alongside Entertainer and ex All Black, Eric Rush will provide plenty of laughs to ensure everyone has a great time. There will be a raffle and silent auction with a great range of fine dining, holidays, gadgets and memorabilia on offer. The IRB has announced its match officials list for the second stage of the 2014 IRB Junior World Championships overnight, with two Australians appointed to referee two of the games in New Zealand on Sunday.
We’re excited to announce that Australian Rugby will be moving to a new online system for national competition management and participant registration for the 2014 Rugby Sevens season and the 2015 club Rugby season.
We’re set for an exciting year with plenty to look forward to in 2014, including our Qantas Men’s Sevens team competing in the Commonwealth Games (July), the Women’s Rugby World Cup in France (August) and the launch of a new domestic competition – the National Rugby Championship (August).
