The NSW CHS Open Championship is being held in Dubbo from Wednesday 23rd May – Friday 25th May, bringing together nine regional and metropolitan teams. From this Championship two CHS teams will be selected to play in the NSW Schools trials in June.
These championships are a chance for the ARU High performance managers to identify potential future talent. Such as 2011 Australian Schoolboy representative Jake McIntyre (Flyhalf - Alstonville High School) – also a member of the ARU’s National Gold squad.
“We view these Championships as an important platform to identify and select talented players into both the schoolboy representative pathway and ARU High Performance programs such as the National Gold Squad and National Academy” Said Ben Whittaker Talent Development Coordinator with the High Performance Unit.
In the past this Championship have kick started the schoolboy representative pathways of current Wallabies Rob Horne (Sydney East) and Tatafu Polota-Nau (Sydney West) as well as Waratah David Dennis (Sydney West) and current U20s representative and 2010 Australian Schoolboy Captain and 2011 Australian U19s Captain Steve Cummins (Sydney West).
Look out for the results of the championship and the best performed players in the coming week.
