Last week the Qantas Wallabies official formal wear supplier, Sportscraft, surprised an excited group of year six students at The Scots College with a visit from several of the Qantas Wallabies squad.
Just two days before the opening Castrol Edge Tri Nations Test against the Springboks, which Australia won 39-20, Sportscraft hosted an exclusive Rugby session for the winner of The Scots College Rugby Support Group fundraiser, who wanted to give her year 6 son and his classmates the ultimate rugby experience.
Qantas Wallabies players, Digby Ioane and Ben McCalman, along with Qantas Wallabies Assistant Coach, Jim Williams, met the class of year 6 boys for an exclusive question and answer session.
The boys had the opportunity to hear about the three’s experiences, gain some valuable Rugby tips and be inspired by the Qantas Wallabies trio. The students also had the chance to secure the autographs of the trio and, much to their excitement, watch first-hand Ioane’s now famous post-try celebratory dance.
Tina Van Zyl, General Manager of Sportscraft, said it was exciting to be able to provide the exclusive, intimate and inspiring session to The Scots College.
“The school has an excellent Rugby program and it’s fantastic to help encourage the growth and development of young boys, and the next generation of Rugby stars,” Ms Van Zyl said.
Sportscraft, a leader in Australian fashion since 1914 and designing menswear since the 1970s, recently extended their association with Australian Rugby Union and the Qantas Wallabies until 2015.
