The Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team today announced tickets were now on sale to the Lloyd McDermott Fundraising dinner on Wednesday 10 August supporting the U16 National Indigenous team’s tour of New Zealand.

The Santos Australian Indigenous U16 NZ Tour Fundraiser will include a dance floor, live band and special guest speaker Ewen McKenzie, coach of the Queensland Reds – the 2011 Super Rugby Champions.

As part of the National Indigenous team’s preparations for the National U16 Championships the team will, for the first time in several years, undertake a short tour to the land of the long white cloud.

As part of the tour the National Indigenous team will travel to Wellington, New Zealand, where they will be guests of the Wainuiomata Rugby Football Club playing two games against local teams.

On Friday 24 September the team will also get to attend the Australia v USA Rugby World Cup game in Wellington.

Executive Officer of the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development Team, Thomas Evans, said the trip is a once in a lifetime opportunity for the players.

“The cultural exchange with the local Maori people, the Rugby and life experiences that comes through travel will all be fantastic, once in a lifetime opportunities for the 23 players involved,” Mr Evans said.

“The team will also learn from some of the best in the world thanks to the opportunity to train with the Wallabies as well as watch the Australians do battle against the USA in their final pool match.

“This is an amazing experience and I encourage anyone who can help us raise the funds needed to send the team to New Zealand to buy a ticket or a table and come along to the dinner.

“Lloyd McDermott dinners are always a great night out and with Champion Super Rugby coach Ewen McKenzie guest speaking it is sure to be an entertaining evening.”

The Santos National Indigenous U16 NZ Tour Fundraiser will be held at the Queensland Rugby Club, Rugby Quay, Level 1, Rugby Quay on Wednesday 10 August from 6.30pm.

For further enquiries, please contact Tahlita Ahwang from Santos on (07) 3838 3913 or Tahlita.Ahwang@santos.com.
Seats are limited so pick up your ticket now for $150 or $1,500 for a table of 10.

The Santos National Indigenous U16’s Championship will be held on the 13-15 August at Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast, from which a National team will be selected to participate in the National U16 Championships at Riverview.
