Queensland Rugby will pay its respects to the passing of University of Queensland Rugby player Halley Appleby and his family during the upcoming round of Queensland and Brisbane Rugby matches with all players to wear black armbands and observe a minutes silence before the commencement of each game.

The observance of a minute silence, and the wearing of black armbands by all players and officials, will take place at all rugby matches scheduled in Brisbane from an Under 19 Colts level and up as a mark of respect to Halley, his family and friends, and all those affected within the entire Rugby community.

The decision to proceed with all competitions and matches scheduled for the upcoming round was finalised by Queensland Rugby after extensive consultation with medical experts in trauma counselling and with all Premier Rugby clubs – in particular University of Queensland and GPS.

The thoughts and prayers of the entire Queensland Rugby community remain with the Appleby family during this difficult time.
